Perspective is to art what grammar is to writing. It helps us place objects in space to achieve that vital third dimension, depth. With rulers, protractors, and compasses we are able to draw squares, triangles, and circles in one-point, two-point and three-point, eventually moving on to shadows and reflections.
PERSPECTIVE DRAWING SUPPLY LIST
Drawing Board Small drawing board 12 to 15 inches wide.
T-Square At least 15 inches. Spokane Art Supply has an 18-inch transparent edge T-square. You can also get them at Staples or Office Depot. The best T-Squares are those with a flat edge, not beveled, on the “T.”
Ruler Any ruler will do, but an especially good model is the flat C-thru ruler with a grid.
Triangles One 45/90 degree and one 30/60, each with at least a 5-inch hypotenuse.
Protractor
Compass Staples and Office Depot have good compass kits in the $10 range. No plastic compasses, please.
Graphite Pencil
Red Pencil
Blue Pencil
Kneaded Eraser
Paper At least 11 x 17 inch.
*Pre-registration is required for Art School classes; classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Students will be registered ONLY on receipt of payment. Enrollment requirements: 3 students minimum. Classes with low enrollment are cancelled 48 hours before the class is scheduled to begin.
Refunds and Cancellation Policies: If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, a full refund will be issued. Otherwise, no refunds will be issued.
