Fanny Mendelssohn’s colorful and deeply romantic String Quartet in Eb minor shines the spotlight on a gifted composer whose work was stifled during her lifetime. Her music is complimented by brother Felix’s reaction to her death in his stormy String Quartet in F minor. Their music and lifelong connection are a fascinating artistic legacy of creativity and tragedy. The concert also features Devin Cholodenko’s new composition “Cracks in the Sky”.
