Go see a show with The Pinkerton Raid, and songwriter Jesse James DeConto might share history from the labor movement, Nordic legends, Broadway showtunes, or COVID rent strikes and coin shortages. It’s all quite beatnik and granola, steeped in STAR WARS’ mysticism, Kerouac’s existentialism, the naturalism of Tolkien, Standing Rock and Laurel Canyon, and the liberation politics of Woody Guthrie and John Lennon. There is a fair number of songs about trees.
“A fine blend of Beatles-esque dreamy folk,” says AMERICANA HIGHWAYS. “There’s glorious spirit to it…(it) simultaneously plumbs the depths of the state of both the world and the human heart.” Jesse has opened for Amythyst Kiah, TopHouse and Sunny War. He played an official showcase at Folk Alliance International 2025 and has been slotting at Mile of Music, AVLFest, Cosmic Songwriter and other festivals with artists like Carsie Blanton, Tommy Prine and River Whyless.
Merge Left is a one-man indie rock band headed by Drew Magro, a college student from Winchester, Virginia. Discovering a passion for music at 14, Drew began writing his own songs and experimenting, quickly branching out with two EPs and an Album since 2023.
